What is your GO TO Recipe?

I am wondering - what is your GO TO recipe? Everyone has one.....time is short....you are in a rush.....you can't think of anything to make. So you make that one recipe, that you love and its easy and everyone loves it. I would say Troy's and mine is homemade BBQ chicken pizza/wraps. So what is yours? I want to know what it is and the recipe :)
We try and have a lot of people over for supper, mainly to try and get to know more people in our ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship - aka Sunday School Class). There are so many in that class that we want to get to know better and since we eat supper anyways...we try and invite people to join us.
I am LOVING this weather....the birds are singing and the snow is melting. Don't get me wrong...I love the snow but after the first day or two it gets all nasty looking and dirty. So it can go now...I am anxiously awaiting flip flop season.
So, send me your recipes and I will write again soon. I promise!

Mine is salsa chicken. You put 2-3 frozen chicken breasts in a crock pot. Pour a jar of salsa over it and cook until ckn is cooked. Scoop over rice. Shredded cheese on top is optional :)

Now tell me how to make your recipe.

Here's my go to recipe - another crock pot - Before you go to work in the morning, put a roast in, put the vegetables over and then pour a Coke or Pepsi over it. Turn it on low and that's it. Mark LOVES this pot roast - always moist. take care - kristi e

One of my easy meals that David loves is Apple Coins

Take Polish sausage and cut it into 1/4" coins. In a frying pan cover these coins with apple juice and bring to a boil. Boil uncovered for 5 mins then covered for 5 mins. Drain the juice and add 1/4 cup apple jelly and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Melt this all together.

I tend to serve this over rice. It is very easy and very good.

Sherry - This is from my niece-in-law's kitchen, and is great to throw in the crock pot before work!

Slow Cooker Lasagna
1 lb. ground beef
1 ½ cups (12oz) small curd cottage cheese
1 – 26oz. jar Ragu (3 cups)
8 oz. rotini noodles (4 ¾ cups)
2 cups water
4 cups (16 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese

In skillet, cook ground beef & drain. Spread 1/4 of meat and 1/4 of sauce in a 5-quart slow cooker. Put layer of 1/3 of noodles followed by layer of 1/3 of cottage cheese and layer of 1/4 of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining meat and sauce. Pour water on top. Put the remaining shredded cheese on the top of the lasagna.
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until noodles are tender.

If you have a small slow cooker:

½ lb. ground beef
1 ½ cups Ragu (small jar)
2 ¾ cups rotini noodles
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
¾ cup small-curd cottage cheese
1 cup water
***Only needs to cook 2-3 hours on low

Spaghetti is always easy, and I always have it on hand. We like to make homemade pizza, too. I use a pizza crust mix, a small can of sauce, and you can choose your own toppings! I also like to fry up some bacon and make BLT wrap sandwiches. In my BLT wrap I include bacon, lettuce, diced or thinly sliced tomatoes, cheese, and ranch dressing. You could add black olives, red onions, or croutons to change it up a bit.

I loved reading everyone else's ideas, too. Great idea for a post, Sherry!

pancakes! ha ha. well, that is what i serve my family only.

hmm, well, last sunday some friends of our said informed me at church that my husband had invited them over for lunch a week ago... only he forgot to tell me. i ended up making that chicken/cheese/ crescent role wreath. i think it is a pampered chief recipe, but i always wing it. you can make it with tuna too. then i served it with soup and i had hoped for a salad, but mine was too wilted... how embarrassing.

we had to rush home and clean up the poopie diapers.

love you so much,

janelle

When in doubt - Frank grills. He has a gas grill as well as a smoker - which we all love and he does even in winter. And I love him cooking outdoors because it is less dishes for me! We have quite a few rub recipes for various types of meat that we make a lot of and then freeze so it's always on hand for emergencies or crazy days. If I have to do it I go with a chicken caesar salad. All you need is B/S chicken rubbed with a mix of equal parts garlic salt, paprika, oregano & basil. Cook at 400 for about 20 min or grill - which I prefer. Cut up over Romaine and any other salad fixings and add the store bought dressing. We do this all year, but it is a great hot weather meal.

For me, having people for dinner all the time gets to be a bit more than I have to spend - - - So I love having people over after church or for an evening of movies or games - and serve a dessert - I keep it simple - it's about the time together - not the food! Even if I decide at the last minute, this recipe is always a fave - super cheap and super simple! I walk in the door after church or after work and throw it together, by the time we're ready to eat, it's ready!

2 cans pie filling (when they go on sale, I buy about 10 cans to have on hand!!!)
1 yellow or white cake mix (get the cheapest one - - "moist" doesn't matter on this one!)
1 stick margarine (Imperial is ALWAYS best for baking!)

Preheat oven to 350.
In separate bowl, use a fork to mix margarine into dry cake mix. (Only mix until margarine is pretty well mixed into cake mix - not a batter - it will be a crumb topping!)

Dump 2 cans pie filling in 9x13 pan.
Evenly distribute cake mix topping over the top of the pie filling.
Bake 20-30 minutes - until golden brown on top.

When warm, serve in bowls and add a dollup of whipped cream or a tiny portion of ice cream.

It's great to have on hand all week! It's easy to cut into 4" squares when cooled, so serve it that way later!

ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!

1 (16 oz) package Polish Sausage (sliced into quarter inch pieces)
2 cups cooked rice (I use Jasmine rice…it is so good!)
1 small onion (cut into small pieces)
Brown Sugar (about ¼ cup)
Cranberry Juice
Soy Sauce (about ¼ cup)

Cook rice as directed.
Sauté sausage and onion in cranberry juice (just cover sausage and onion with juice) for about 15 minutes. Add brown sugar and soy sauce (you may not want to put all of it in at once…I really don’t measure…just add for your taste). Sauté for another 5 minutes or so and then add the rice.

You can also use apple juice or pineapple juice. Other things you could add…pineapple chunks, bell peppers…you think of something.

I’ll try to measure the soy sauce and brown sugar next week when I make it and let you know.

I got this recipe from Amy Harper, who may have gotten it from SooAnn, not sure. Anyway, it's "our" version of Jambalaya.

Brown two packages of breakfast sausage (whatever kind or heat you want)
Bake 4 chicken breasts sprinkled with taco seasoning
Rough chop two green peppers and one large onion
Cut up on package of polish sausage
Throw it all together in a big pot with a can of diced tomatoes and a can of Rotel tomatoes and cook until you like it! I usually throw in the rest of the taco seasoning too.
Serve over rice--we like brown rice.
It sounds like a lot, but it's really not. And very yummy. Every one who comes to our house for dinner usually gets this the first time.
