Where Should We Go???????????????

Ok - Troy and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary December 31st and would like to take a special trip around that time. It will actually probably be the first week of January due to Troy having work commitments from Christmas Day through New Years Day. So....we want your input/advice etc. We purchased our home the end of May and have pretty much worked non stop to get it move in ready by the end of November. We are on track to be moved in and somewhat settled by Christmas, so we are pretty excited. However, right now due to an immigration visa pending- the vacation spot needs to be in the U.S.A.

So give us your ideas, suggestions, invitations at your leisure and we look forward to hearing from you all soon.

well, I was going to suggest Costa Rica...but then read about immigration...

it depends what you'd like to do....if you could be gone for at least 7 days, then I say, Hawaii - the island of Kauai, or else San Diego, CA. just because I hear that city rocks...or Minnesota...but I'm just biased that that is the best place in the world! :)

Okay, I'm going to chime in, here. I don't know what your goals are for your anniversary - secluded and romantic - so - I agree with the whole Gatlinburg thing for that - not too far away and it won't be as cold - hopefully as Indiana. If seclusion is not the most important thing - I always love NYC. Anther exotic locale. of course is the often overlooked Arkadelphia, Arkansas. :o) Love you - kristi

Oh...the possibilities are endless! It all depends on what you guys are looking for...close to home, far away, seclusion, attractions? The cabins in Brown County are very nice, like Rebecca said. Stephen and I have been there at least 5 times! www.browncountylogcabins.com You can see pics and choose your cabin there. Another neat place we have been is Serenity Springs. It is up North close to Michigan. Very Romantic. There are a bunch of cabins around a lake. They take you to your cabin by horse and carriage or sleigh if it is snowy!!! Then there is a butler door they sneak treats to you throughout the weekend!!! Hope you find someplace really special! You will have a GREAT time no matter where you go! Love you!

I say hit the Northwest. Visit Dave & Esther in San Fran and then head up to Seattle and Spokane to visit Dan & Julie. Ok maybe that's my hope for my next big vacation :).

Oh yeah...I have the perfect roach cabin for you to stay at in Gaitlinburg. I so did not like TN. I like the idea of going to NYC. It is so cool and lots of exciting things to do. Or if you like historical sights you can go to Boston

Baltimore's Inner Harbor Area is beautiful with lots of things to do. Also, shore points are great with less people - and long walks on the beach are still possible. DC, Boston, NYC and even Philly would be good! You'll have a great time no matter where you go!

Okay…I know you don’t know me, but I just have to comment on this one. First, I’ll introduce myself and tell you why I’m here! My name is Beth and I’m here because I’m nosey:)! I’m actually a friend of Monica’s and I started reading your blog because you all kept talking about your house on here blog and I wanted to see what the deal was. So, I started at the beginning of your blog and got up to speed on how you got this beautiful church and why…I’ve been updating myself ever since. It sounds ridiculous, I know! I’m VERY bored at work! Anyway…Gatlinburg...Monica had a great honeymoon there! Just kidding…and I live in TN and I really wouldn’t suggest it either. I say Hawaii or NYC for sure! I’ve never been to either, but they are both on my list of top places in the US!

Minnesota is definitely NOT the best place in the US (although our house is!). Of course Tennessee is my favorite. I can't believe all the negative roach comments! j/k Hawaii is amazing and is only better in person. Go!!! I suggest Waikiki in Honolulu though. Never take a 10 month old with you though. :( Seattle and Portland, OR are good choices too (mild winters). We also LOVED the Bed and Breakfast on the ocean that we stayed at for our honneymoon in the Outer Banks.

Beth and Jason - whatever about Minnesota. It would be awesome! Especially during Winter Carnival! Plus they could go to Mall of America and stay at the hotel with the Waterpark of America...don't dis the midwest.

Okay - A Few Things:
1) Come to Cali!!! Not that I expect you to spend your anniversary with friends, but I hear there's tons to do in San Fran - we're so new here I couldn't tell you what, but I'm sure they're right. And we're about an hour from there, so we could at least meet for dinner!

2) Minnesota - yeah, a really great place, but not the best place in the world! And I would know - born there, but traveled elsewhere beyond the boarders of MinneSNOWta and saw true beauty. Try St. Lucia, West Indies - great place!

3)I know South Dakota doesn't sound like a great place to go, but there is a really great Bed & Breakfast in Rapid City - www.audriesbb.com. It's fantastic.

g-knee,
No disrespect intended. I only "dis" the midwest after living here for 4 years and still not liking it. I guess it's just a wheather thing.

My vote is Orlando. Tons of stuff to do for the times you want to get out and have fun and some great hotels for the times you want to stay in and have fun. :)

let's just say I ran into sweet sister Holly in the Daily Grind yesterday and she'd like for you to go as close to the border as possible so they could see you. I told her that was a great idea :) DOn't know where you'd stay, but that was her vote! I just LOVE what you've done to your home. I'M SOOO IMPRESSED.

I would suggest Prineville, OR where we are because I'm selfish. But you wouldm't find it much different right now than Lafayette, IN. It's cold and getting ready to snow. I suggest San Diego - it's warm, it's beautiful and you could see both your cousins. Lance just left yesterday to drive home after spending Thanksgiving with us. Aunt Sharon
